Wild Bean Coffee Now Open in Rockville

Wild Bean Coffee has officially opened its doors at 1532 Rockville Pike, moving into the space previously occupied by UBREAKIFIX and located across the pike from Staples (preview video below).

The new cafe offers a wide-ranging menu that goes beyond standard coffee shop fare. Customers can choose from classic espresso drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, mochas, macchiatos, and cold brew, along with flavored options and seasonal-style specialties. Matcha is a major focus, with multiple matcha latte options available both hot and iced.

For those looking for something other than coffee, Wild Bean Coffee features a lineup of smoothies and wellness-style drinks made with fruits, greens, and customizable add-ins. The menu also includes smoothie bowls, with both build-your-own options and signature creations that allow guests to choose a base and top it with items like granola, fresh fruit, seeds, and drizzles.

Tea options and light grab-and-go items round out the menu, making the new Rockville spot an option for quick coffee runs, breakfast stops, or a more filling snack throughout the day. According to its website, Wild Bean Coffee will be open daily from 6am until 4pm.

Construction Set to Begin on Call Your Mother Deli’s Return to Downtown Bethesda

In August, we shared that Call Your Mother Deli would be returning to Bethesda with a new, permanent downtown location at 4828 St. Elmo Ave. A $475,000 permit has now been issued for construction, signaling that work is set to begin. While an exact opening date has not been announced, an opening later this year is expected.

The space was most recently home to Hardwood Artisans and has also previously housed Design Within Reach and Johnny Rockets. Last year, Call Your Mother relocated its popular “Lil’ Deli” mobile trolley after roughly five years at the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Greentree Road to a new home in Riverdale in Prince George’s County.

Founded in 2016, Call Your Mother has built a loyal following for its signature wood-fired bagels, a hybrid of New York and Montreal styles. The menu features creative bagel sandwiches such as the fan-favorite Royal Palm with smoked salmon and the Sun City, known for its sweet and spicy kick. The new Bethesda location is expected to offer the full menu of bagels, sandwiches, coffee, and pastries that have helped make the brand a regional favorite.

In the meantime, Montgomery County residents can still visit the Call Your Mother location at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda.

K2 Cafe Now Full Go in Clarksburg Following Soft Opening Phase

K2 Cafe is officially full go in Clarksburg after wrapping up a successful soft opening phase at the Clarksburg Market (23329 Frederick Rd).

The Poolesville based cafe has now fully opened its second location, bringing its Himalayan inspired bowls, wraps, and specialty drinks to Clarksburg. After a couple  weeks of testing operations, training staff, and welcoming early customers, the owners say the Clarksburg cafe is now operating as intended.

Current hours at the Clarksburg K2 Cafe are Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cafe is closed Mondays and Tuesdays for now.

The opening is especially meaningful for co owner Nichole Hodges Abbasi, who teaches at Hallie Wells Middle School and has deep ties to the Clarksburg community. What started as an expansion plan is now a daily reality, with local residents stopping in for familiar favorites and first time visitors discovering K2 for the first time.

Founded by Nichole and her husband Ashar Abbasi, K2 Cafe first opened in Poolesville in 2021 and quickly developed a loyal following. Long lunch lines, cyclists fueling up after rides, and students grabbing meals became a common sight as the cafe carved out a niche with fresh halal ingredients and a menu blending American comfort food with Himalayan flavors. Popular items include tandoori chicken bowls, Himalayan chai, and house made cookies.

The Clarksburg location follows the same philosophy that helped make the original cafe a success, focusing on quality ingredients, cultural influences, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere.
